Rodent Control in Provost
Provost's ranch-style homes hide a highway under the floor — the crawl space. We start underneath, clear the mice living there, and seal the floor they keep coming up through.

Your Local Provost Rodent Exterminator
Provost is a south-central family neighborhood — quiet streets, an elementary school at its heart, and a housing stock dominated by one very rodent-relevant design: the ranch-style home on a crawl space. A ranch house looks simple from the street, and that simplicity is real, but underneath it is a shadow version of the home: a dark, sheltered crawl space threaded with plumbing, ducting, and wiring, ringed by foundation vents that on many Provost homes are screened with little more than good intentions. For a house mouse, this is the best real estate in the neighborhood — protected from weather and predators, warm from the floor above, and connected by pipe openings directly into the kitchen and bathrooms.
The Provost pattern follows from that architecture. Mice enter through a vent or a settling crack at the foundation, set up in the crawl space, and commute upward around the plumbing — which is why Provost homeowners find droppings under the kitchen sink, behind the dishwasher, and around the laundry hookups while the rest of the house looks untouched. Sounds come from underfoot rather than overhead. Because ranch homes are single-story and compact, the signs concentrate in the wet rooms, and because the colony lives below the floor rather than in the attic, homeowners who check the attic find nothing and conclude the problem is minor. It is not minor; it is just located where nobody looks.
Our Provost inspections start where the mice are: in the crawl space, with a light, looking at vents, access doors, foundation cracks, and every pipe that passes through the floor. The good news is that a ranch home's entry list is short and finishable. Screen the vents properly, fit the access tight, seal the penetrations from below and above, remove the mice in residence — and a Provost home can be genuinely, completely closed in a way larger multi-story homes envy. We also check the attic and garage in the same visit, because thorough is thorough, but in Provost the job is won or lost under the floor.
Services Available in Provost
Mice Control
Crawl space mice commuting up the plumbing into kitchens and bathrooms — the Provost specialty. We clear the space below and seal the floor penetrations above it.

Rats occasionally take up in Provost crawl spaces and garages, especially where foundation vents are broken. We remove them and restore the venting with rodent-proof screening.
Rat control in Provost →Rodent Removal
Removal of established under-floor colonies and of dead rodents in crawl spaces and wall voids — the hidden source of many Provost odor complaints.

Provost attics are shallow but not immune, especially in fall. We clear any attic activity found and seal roofline and vent entries during the same project.
Attic control in Provost →Rodent Inspection
An under-floor-first inspection for ranch homes: crawl space, vents, plumbing runs, and access points, plus attic and garage checks for the full picture.
Inspection in Provost →Why Provost Calls Us
- Crawl space specialists: we start where Provost mice actually live instead of selling you an attic treatment by default.
- Complete sealing is realistic here: a ranch home's entry list is short — we finish all of it, not the easy half.
- Family-home care: traps and work areas kept out of living spaces, with the plan explained before we start.
- Signs read correctly: under-sink droppings and floor-level sounds diagnosed to the crawl space they came from.

Rodent Control FAQs for Provost
Why do Provost homes get mice in the crawl space so often?
Ranch-style homes on crawl spaces are built with a hidden network under the floor: the crawl space itself, plumbing runs that pass up through the floor into kitchens and bathrooms, and vents around the foundation that are often screened loosely or not at all. Mice enter through a foundation vent, live in the crawl space undisturbed, and come up around the pipes wherever they eat and drink. It is the standard Provost pattern, and it is why our inspections here start underneath the house.
What are the signs the problem is in the crawl space and not the attic?
Sounds under the floor rather than overhead, droppings concentrated in the kitchen and bathrooms — the rooms plumbed through the floor — and activity that seems worst around sinks, dishwashers, and laundry hookups. Attic problems announce themselves in the ceiling instead. Many Provost homes eventually show both, but the inspection determines where the main colony and the main entries actually are.
Can crawl space entries really be sealed permanently?
Yes. The entries are finite: foundation vents get proper rodent-proof screening, plumbing and line penetrations through the floor get sealed from below and above, the crawl space access door gets fitted tight, and foundation cracks get closed. A ranch home has fewer total openings than a multi-story house, which makes a complete Provost sealing very achievable in one project.
Is it safe for kids and pets while you work under the house?
Our crawl space work is mechanical — inspection, removal, screening, and sealing — done in a closed-off work area under the floor. We will walk you through exactly what we are doing, where traps are placed if they are used, and keep them out of living spaces and away from children and pets. Call (385) 406-1774 and we will explain the plan for your home before anything is scheduled.
